We are continuing our celebration of African American Children's Authors with a guest read by Elan Dawson on Friday, 2/25 for our kindergarten through 3rd graders.  
Bobby Be Brave, written by Christopher Holley and Elan Dawson is about a blackberry named Bobby who is picked on by the other fruit at school because of his size and physical appearance. One day Bobby decides to be brave and things take a major turn.  Her book is available for purchase on Amazon!

Thank You Bedford Families! We had the most successful Book Fair in Bedford history. Thanks to your contributions, we achieved our sales goal by 127%. All profits earned from the fair will go towards purchasing new materials for our library. We appreciate your support and hope our students enjoy their books.

Next week is Mid-Winter Break! There is NO SCHOOL on Monday 2/21 and Tuesday 2/22 AND NOW it is a VIRTUAL half-day on Wednesday 2/23. Students will be bringing their Chromebooks home this week so they have them for Wednesday. Thursday and Friday (2/24-2/25) will be in person.

We had the most amazing guest speaker today! Mr. Wilson wrote the children's book, Teach Me About Garvey. We learned all about the accomplishments and ways Marcus Garvey inspired future African Americans to strive for equal rights. Mr. Wilson flew all the way from GEORGIA for US today and shared his book with our 2nd through 5th grades and had a Q & A with the students. They loved him! What an amazing author and an inspiration for our students. If you are interested in a copy of his book, I have a few in the main office for sale ($15) or you can scan this QR code and purchase it directly.
